THIS SUNDAY I'M GRATEFUL...

- for that extra hour this morning...
(although somehow the kids didn't know to sleep for that extra hour...)
which means I can allow a small piece of time for a well overdue blogpost!

Maybe that illusion of extra time will give us time to do something with these quinces that I picked during the week.

What are you grateful for?
What would you do with a bucketful of quinces?

Yum! If you can get your hands on Stephanie Alexander's The Cook Companion, there is a recipe for quince tart which is to die for. Or you can make quince jelly of course.

The extra hour is fantastic. I love thinking it's later than it is. Makes up for the awfulness in October when the clocks go forward and you spend at least a week playing catch-up.

I'd be making quince jam, which is a personal favourite and goes so beautifully with cheeses. I add it to stirfries too instead of honey... or at least, I'd recommend that you do, Emma dear. I've never tackled jam in my life, but I suspect that you will know what to do!! x

Hon, I just noticed your 'DIY' parties link on your sidebar. I thought 'wouldn't it be great if there was a place that linked up all the cool parties we see on blogs from time to time...' well? How about it? I'd be thrilled to link my monster party and my mermaid party... and I'm sure there are plenty of others who would do the same... x

I share your no-extra-hour-sleeping-pain. Pffft.

Aren't quinces the weirdiest looking fruit? Don't they make the loveliest kind of jelly...

wasn't that extra hour wonderful - I felt positively liberated this morning ... if only we could bottle it and the use it throughout the year on those mornings when nothing else works. Enjoy your quinces - I've not made anything with them, but I surely love quince paste with my cheese.

no, they don't seem to understand that the little sleepin at this end of DLS is the best part!!!

And sorry, no idea what I'd do with a basket of quinces - but can't wait to see what you do!!

Huh, interesting. I'd never thought about it before, but I guess when your clocks go back in the southern hemisphere, ours go forwards in the north. We lost an hour. I'm still trying to find it. :-p

Wow look at all those quinces, I'm not sure what I'd do with all those apart from paste, but I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with! I did enjoy that extra hour, but since then our boys are waking up soooo early, everyone's exhausted by the time it's actually time to get up!

Unfortunately I know nothing of quinces but do think they photograph very well! Look forward to seeing what you come up with, be sure to share.

Oh look at those lovely quinces! With daylight saving ending, I've been putting the boys to bed later and later, so there would actually be a sleep in on Sunday. And guess what? It worked! I'm definitely going to do the opposite come October!

And those quinces... definitely quince jelly, for cheese platters. YUM! xx
